1. Introduction
Kawn MindMap is operated by Akhirah Projects. It is designed as a local-first product: your maps are created and saved in your browser first, and the app is designed to continue working offline after it has loaded.
If you choose to connect cloud services such as Google Drive, Kawn MindMap syncs only the data needed to provide that feature, such as the project files and sync records required to keep your selected maps available across devices.
2. Information We Collect
Kawn MindMap may store mind maps, project names, node content, references, layout settings, attached project assets, and UI preferences locally in your browser. This local data helps the app save your work and restore your workspace.
If cloud sync is enabled, the app may also store sync metadata such as remote file IDs, folder IDs, modified times, last sync status, connection state, and conflict or backup markers needed to complete sync reliably.
Google sign-in may provide basic account information, such as your name, email address, profile image, and Google account identifier. Kawn MindMap uses this information only to authenticate you and access the Google Drive account you connect.
3. Google Drive Access
When you enable Google Drive sync, Kawn MindMap uses basic Google sign-in permissions for profile and email, and the Google Drive permission https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file.
The Drive file permission is used only for user-requested sync of Kawn MindMap project files and attached assets. It allows the app to create, open, read, update, and sync files that you create with Kawn MindMap or choose to use with Kawn MindMap.
Kawn MindMap does not use Google Drive data for advertising, profiling, or selling data. Drive access is limited to what is needed to create, read, update, and sync user-selected project files. You can disconnect Google Drive at any time from the app or from your Google Account permissions page.
4. How We Use Information
We use local project information to save maps in your browser, restore your workspace, remember preferences, and keep the app usable without requiring an account.
If you enable Google Drive sync, the app uses your selected project data to sync local projects to your connected Google Drive, restore projects across your devices, and recover from ordinary sync issues.
Sync metadata may be used to handle conflicts, backups, modified-time comparisons, retry behavior, and error recovery. Support or debug logs, if any are voluntarily sent to us or generated during support, are used only to diagnose issues and are not used for marketing.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Local browser data remains under your control in your browser. It remains there until you delete local projects, clear browser storage, reset the app, change browsers or devices, or your browser removes the data.
Synced Drive files remain in your Google Drive until you delete them. Disconnecting Google Drive removes the app's sync connection and stops future cloud sync, but it does not automatically delete files already stored in your Drive unless the app explicitly offers and you choose a deletion option.
Sync metadata stored locally remains until you disconnect sync, clear browser storage, or delete the related project. Support or debug logs that reach Akhirah Projects, if any, are kept only as long as reasonably needed to diagnose the issue, normally no longer than 90 days unless a longer period is required for security, abuse prevention, or legal reasons.
7. Security
Kawn MindMap's local-first design reduces exposure by keeping your working data in your browser unless you choose to sync it. When cloud sync is enabled, the app uses authenticated Google APIs for Google Drive access.
No online system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. You should protect your Google Account with a strong password, two-step verification where possible, and careful review of connected app permissions.
8. User Controls
You can control your Kawn MindMap data in several ways:
- Disconnect Google Drive from inside Kawn MindMap, if the control is available, or from your Google Account third-party access settings.
- Clear browser storage for akhirahprojects.com to remove locally stored app data from that browser.
- Delete local projects inside the app where deletion controls are provided.
- Delete synced Kawn MindMap files manually from your Google Drive if you no longer want them stored there.
- Contact Akhirah Projects for privacy questions or requests at [email protected].
9. Children's Privacy
Kawn MindMap is intended for general audiences and is not knowingly directed at children under 13. If a child uses the service, a parent or guardian should supervise their use, especially if cloud sync or a Google Account is involved.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Kawn MindMap changes or as legal, security, or operational needs evolve. When we update it, we will change the "Last updated" date near the top of this page.
Your continued use of Kawn MindMap after an updated policy is posted means you accept the updated policy.
