Sources, PDFs, and evidence

Organize research notes visually without losing the source.

Kawn MindMap helps you keep claims, summaries, questions, PDFs, documents, examples, contradictions, and reflections connected to the material that gives them meaning.

Why references matter

Normal mind maps can lose context

When a map grows, short labels can become separated from the PDF, book, lecture, paper, document, video, source note, or planning file that originally gave the idea meaning.

Without context

Ideas look clean but become hard to trust

A branch might say “market risk” or “definition” but not show where the claim came from or what evidence supports it.

With context

Every important point has a trail back

Kawn encourages you to keep the source, summary, question, and next action close to the branch they support.

Workflow

A practical source-backed research flow

Use this when you are reading papers, comparing sources, planning a product, studying a lecture, or turning scattered notes into a clear map.

  1. Start with the research question.Make the central node specific enough that the map has direction.
  2. Add sources as real branches.Put PDFs, documents, videos, notes, books, or links near the claims they support.
  3. Separate claim, evidence, and reflection.Do not mix what the source says with your own conclusion unless the branch makes that clear.
  4. Mark contradictions and gaps.Use the map to reveal conflicts, missing evidence, unclear definitions, and follow-up questions.
  5. Summarize before expanding. When the map becomes large, create summary branches before adding more material.
Branch checklist

What to keep near an important idea

The goal is not to make every node heavy. The goal is to keep enough context that your future self can understand and verify the point.

Source pointer

Where did this come from?

PDF, document, page, timestamp, lecture title, book name, article, screenshot, or personal note.

Meaning

What does it mean?

A short explanation in your own words, separated from the original source when needed.

Status

How reliable is it?

Confirmed, uncertain, needs checking, contradicted, useful example, or possible next action.

Careful promise

Kawn helps organize research; it does not replace verification.

Source-backed mapping keeps context visible, but you still need to verify the source, interpret it carefully, and avoid treating a visual branch as proof by itself.
